Bocker
Belgium
Nestled in the hills of West Flanders in the village of Bellegem is the family-owned Brouwerij Bocker. Fourth-generation owner Omer-Jean Vander Ghinste oversees the brewery. Although most of their volume is in Belgian Pilsner, Brewery Bocker is rapidly gaining a following for their specialty beers including an excellent Flemish Sour called Cuvée des Jacobins Rouge and Omer Tradional Blond.
Year Round
Cuvée Des Jacobins Rouge
5.5% Sour Ale
Red in color with a beguiling balance of malty sweetness and acidic sharpness, this Flemish Sour Ale is made from fermented and barrel-aged beer of at least 18 months. The beer is cooled overnight in a large, shallow metal vessel called a coolship and then fermented and aged in large oak foudres which are made in France and assembled on-site at Bocker.
VanderGhinste
5.5% Brown Ale
A regional classic. Blended with 18-month old lambic to create this tart, refreshing, medium-bodied benchmark ale. Reddish-amber with a tan head. Hints of tart fruit and an underlying light lambic sourness dominate the nose. The palate has apple and raisiny fruit notes offset by a touch of brown ale caramel sweetness and a toasty-woody finish with just a light touch of hops.
